Alwyn Lopez Jarreau is a Grammy Award winner seven times over and was born on March 12, 1940. He is a highly decorated performer and is the only vocalist credited with receiving awards in three different categories: R&B, jazz, and pop. Al was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He graduated from Ripon College in 1962 and later earned a master's in Vocational Rehabilitation from the University of Iowa. After forming a duo with acoustic guitarist Julio Martinez and becoming the main attraction at the night club Gatsby's, he made the decision to sing professionally in 1967.
