Vicente Fernandez, at age 21, won a singing contest and earned 35 pesos. As the story goes, Fernandez asked the Mexican authorities not to charge people for a public concert to be held at La Plaza. He told himself if he did not fill it he would stop singing. Vicente filled La Plaza to capacity, 54,000, a record that still holds today. Vicente Fernandez tickets are available.

Vicente Fern�ndez (born Vicente Fern�ndez Gomez on February 17, 1940) is a Mexican ranchera singer and actor. He is the father of Alejandro Fern�ndez, also a popular Mexican artist. Fern�ndez's life could be described as a rags-to-riches story�having come from humble beginnings, he eventually established himself as a famous musician.
